Seirin Pyonex Press Tacks

Gentle Acupuncture Support Between Treatments ‌

At Healing Roots Acupuncture, treatment continues even after you leave the clinic. In some cases, very small acupuncture needles called press tacks are used to gently stimulate specific acupuncture points for a longer period of time. ‌

Press tacks provide subtle, continuous stimulation that can help extend the benefits of your acupuncture session and support your body’s natural healing process.

What Are Press Tacks? ‌

Press tacks are extremely small, sterile acupuncture needles attached to a tiny adhesive bandage. They are designed to remain on the skin for a short period of time and provide gentle, ongoing stimulation to an acupuncture point.

Unlike the needles used during a regular acupuncture treatment, press tacks are very shallow and comfortable. Most patients barely notice they are there. ‌

Why Are Press Tacks Used? ‌

Press tacks may be placed at the end of an acupuncture session to help maintain progress between treatments.

They are commonly used to support:

  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Stress and tension
  • Headaches
  • Continued stimulation of important acupuncture points
  • Maintaining the therapeutic effects of your treatment ‌

How Press Tacks Work in Acupuncture ‌

Press tacks are sometimes called press needles or micro acupuncture needles. They are used to gently stimulate acupuncture points for a longer period of time after a treatment session. ‌

In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture points lie along pathways called meridians. These pathways help regulate the flow of Qi, the body’s vital energy. ‌

By keeping a point lightly stimulated for a day or two, press tacks can help:

  • reinforce the effects of your acupuncture treatment
  • support the body’s natural healing response
  • encourage balanced energy flow
  • help maintain progress between visits ‌

Because they are so small and shallow, press tacks provide a very gentle form of continued acupuncture stimulation.

What to Expect ‌

Press tacks are typically worn for 1–3 days, depending on the treatment plan. They are waterproof and can remain in place during normal daily activities such as showering, sleeping, and exercise.

If the adhesive loosens or the press tack becomes uncomfortable, it can be gently removed at home.

Your acupuncturist will provide instructions if press tacks are recommended as part of your care.

‌How to Remove Press Tacks ‌

Press tacks are easy to remove.

  1. Wash your hands.

  2. Gently peel the adhesive patch away from the skin.

  3. Dispose of the press tack and adhesive in the trash.

If the area feels slightly sensitive afterward, simply leave it alone and allow the skin to rest.

‌When Should They Be Removed? ‌

You should remove your press tacks if:

  • They have been in place for 3 days
  • The adhesive becomes loose
  • The area becomes irritated
  • You feel discomfort at the site

If you ever have concerns, feel free to contact the clinic.

 ‌Supporting Your Healing

‌Traditional acupuncture works by helping the body restore balance and proper flow of energy. Press tacks allow certain points to remain gently stimulated after your session, helping the body continue the healing process.
